Crystal Palace features in our latest Vintage post and this first of two Eagles posts features retro player and team images from the years between 1961 and 1971.
The 60s was a good decade for Palace. Founder members of the re-organised Division Four in 1958, the club progressed onwards and upwards to reach the top flight a decade later. While BTLM has no particular affinity with Crystal Palace, we are fans of some of the quite lovely strips their teams sported in these years – some of which can be seen among these gallery images.

The day John Sewell actually scored a goal. It helped of course that butterfingers Sprake got in the way. I was a 7 year old in the stand behind Sewell. We were all expecting a thrashing what with Palace being their usual 3 from bottom or thereabouts. When that went in the place went ballistic. Nobody could believe it. Even the cameraman is laughing at him. 1 – 1 at the end!
