USA flagThe LA Aztecs: the New York Cosmos of the west coast. Or at least that’s what the owners hoped the club might become. There were star-studded connections through part-owner Elton John, the big-name managers like Rinus Michels and the famous players in George Best, Ron Davies, Wim Suurbier and of course, Johan Cruyff.

But there wasn’t the success. The single Aztecs title win came in 1974 and even that was before the big names rolled into town. And those big names didn’t bring in the crowds either with attendances disappointing compared to other NASL clubs. This collection of Vintage imagery is brought to you in association with Miles and his @TheSkyStrikers Twitter account.
