A two-year period in the mid-1960s, albeit one that marked the harsh transition point when Rangers crossed over from being Scotland’s dominant club to one that would spend much of the following decade chasing shadows.

The treble success of 1964 seemed to augur well for ongoing glory at Ibrox, but Celtic’s title win in 1966 would not be an isolated success and instead heralded a shift in the axis of power to the east of the city.
