This is the first of four Leeds United Vintage posts featuring player and team images from the golden years of the Elland Road club.
The modern history of Leeds begins with Don Revie and the late 50s, while an inauspicious time for the football club, at least was notable for Revie’s arrival as a player at the tail end of his career. He took over as manager in 1961 and transformed the club from top to bottom; from yellow and blue shirts to all-white; from also-rans to serial winners.
The club transitioned rapidly from Second Division champions in 1964 to First Division runners-up in 1965 and 1966 and by 1968 the first trophies followed with success in both the League and the Fairs Cup.
