This is the fifth and final article in the BTLM series dedicated to Eric Batty and his famous World XIs published in World Soccer magazine between 1960 and 1992. Eric nominated a best team for each individual year and once, in 1983, he named a World XI of World XIs – his all-time favourite players drawn from six decades of watching the game. It’s interesting to note that Uruguay and Austria are the only nationalities represented by more than a single player in his line-up.
