In the 1960s people played proper board games – that’s spelled B-O-A-R-D. Now repeat after me so I know you’re paying attention.

We’ve gathered together a collection of retro 60s football games ads to show how much wholesome fun all the family – including some really odd-looking kids – really could enjoy with plastic blobs on sticks. These were more innocent times when games that used the physical phenomenon of magnetism were considered some sort of witchcraft, but even then top footballers of the day were always on hand to give the ubiquitous commercial endorsements. Yes, that meant Bobby Moore as always.
