Revie’s talented and uncompromising team went from strength to strength during the 69-72 period with a first championship win, an FA Cup success and a second Inter-City Fairs Cup secured. It was a glorious era but could have been much more so with the club lapsing into the unfortunate habit of finishing as runners-up in both League and Cups all too often.
