Today we have a collection of stylishly drawn player biog pieces for each member of  France’s 1958 World Cup squad for you. We believe these were originally published in Onze magazine in the run up to the tournament and have also been published at the footnostalgie site. The squad contains a number of the greatest names in French football history like Kopa, Vincent, Jonquet and Just Fontaine.

Following years of mediocrity qualification for the tournament at the expense of Belgium and Iceland had been a surprise in itself. The French travelled to Sweden with little in the way of expectation, yet performed brilliantly to finish in third place.
