Star Strip – Les Allen

EnglandWith a career that took in the narrow geographic London-centric span of Chelsea, Tottenham and QPR; Les Allen certainly never had the inconvenience of uprooting his family and moving house when he changed clubs.

Star StripA free-scoring inside-forward with Chelsea, he would make what was a common move at the time to Tottenham and prosper in their wonderful double-winning team of the early 1960s. He was unfortunate enough to lose his place to another ex-Chelsea forward in Jimmy Greaves.

A drop down the Leagues to join QPR suggested his career was starting to wind down, but these were to be exciting times for the west London club. In 1967 – the year this Star Strip was published – QPR won the League Cup as a Third Division side with Les Allen, and his goals, very much to the fore.
