Leaving aside the messy betting scandal of 1964, the years of the early to mid 1960s were solid if unspectacular ones in the history of Sheffield Wednesday. The 1960-61 season was a stand out exception however thanks to an impressive finish as runners-up in the League to double winners Tottenham.
