Through the Lens of Henk Blansjaar – Be Quick 1887

Through The Lens Of Henk BlansjaarOur latest Through The Lens With Henk Blansjaar post features an unusually conventional set of player portrait studies shot by the great man back in 1963. The players involved were the first team of Be Quick 1887 from Groningen. The images are simple head shots rich in small period details from the brylcreamed 1960s quiffs that were the height of youth fashion, to the players who wore glasses on the pitch in the days before contact lenses.

Be Quick 1887 won the Dutch national title back in 1920 and were a second tier club at the time these pictures were shot. Just a year later the club abandoned professionalism and carried on in amateur League obscurity where they continue to this day.
